Empowering Professionals on Their Recovery Path

About The Cedar House Recovery
At The Cedar House, we provide a safe, supportive, and structured sober living environment for professionals committed to maintaining long-term recovery. Designed for individuals typically between the ages of 35 and 65, our program also welcomes college students who are serious about their academic and recovery goals.
We understand that recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all, which is why our approach balances independence with accountability. Residents are encouraged to build healthy, sustainable routines rooted in recovery, work, and wellness. Whether you’re already employed, enrolled in an outpatient program, or transitioning back into daily life, The Cedar House offers the structure and community you need to move forward with confidence.
Life at The Cedar House
Sober living at The Cedar House is not treatment—it’s a lifestyle. Most of our residents participate in therapy, counseling, and either PHP or IOP programs. We support this journey with on-site services including:
- Peer support
- Weekly recovery coaching
- Access to counseling resources
We also offer a rotating weekly schedule of optional groups and activities—designed to foster personal growth, connection, and fun. From shared dinners and 12-step meetings to city outings and local adventures, our residents find meaningful ways to stay engaged in their recovery and in life. Check out an example of our weekly menu here.
We’re Pet Friendly
We know that leaving home is hard—especially when it means leaving a beloved pet behind. That’s why The Cedar House proudly welcomes pets. Having your companion by your side isn’t just comforting; it’s proven to support both mental and physical health during recovery.
Convenient Location + Transportation
Located in Pittsburgh, The Cedar House offers easy access to public transportation and local amenities. Most of our residents have their own vehicles, and off-street parking is included. For those without transportation, we provide rides to appointments and important destinations.
Length of Stay
Every recovery journey is different. Most residents stay with us anywhere from three to twelve months, depending on their personal goals and progress. Our aim is to support each person in building the confidence, stability, and support network needed for lasting success.

Who We Serve
The Cedar House is for adult men and women who are serious about their recovery and looking for a safe, supportive, and inspiring place to live. Whether you’re transitioning from treatment or looking to get back on track, we provide the structure and support you need to move forward.
Why “Cedar”?
The cedar tree is a symbol of strength, resilience, and healing—qualities we aim to cultivate in each person who walks through our doors. Like the cedar, our goal is to help you stand tall, weather the storms, and put down roots for a lasting recovery.
Meet the Team
At The Cedar House, we’re more than just a team — we’re a community of people who genuinely care. We’re deeply passionate about what we do, and we show up each day to walk alongside our residents through every part of the recovery journey. Whether it’s celebrating milestones or offering support through life’s challenges, we’re here — present, engaged, and committed. Early recovery often brings clarity, and with it, the need to face what’s been left behind. We don’t shy away from that work. Instead, we meet it with empathy, experience, and encouragement, leading by example and walking the path together.
